Carrie Horn, Founder + Principal, Bold Story Marketing

Carrie Horn is a public relations, strategic marketing, and events expert with over fifteen years of industry experience. She has led efforts in-house for brands, at agencies, and in a corporate setting. Throughout her career she has developed and executed myriad business, communications and marketing campaigns for clients in the media, tourism, hospitality, real estate, restaurant, consumer product, and sports categories. As an events specialist, Carrie has created and managed many impactful gatherings with over 2,000 attendees, and represented brands at events with over 300,000 people. She has created integrated and highly engaging, cohesive campaigns for top tier advertisers across multiple platforms including print, digital, events, and social media.

Most recently, Carrie was Senior Marketing Director at 5280 magazine, Denver's premier lifestyle publication and media company. In nearly ten years, Carrie tripled the size of the marketing department and built an event division that generated hundreds of thousands of new revenue dollars. In her tenure, Carrie also secured dozens of public relations placements a year, including regular appearances by 5280 editors on leading TV and radio channels throughout the Denver metro area. Carrie built strong strategic alliances with partners spanning categories of business, including non-profits, cultural institutions and media outlets that led to optimal branding and high-level exposure, maintaining the publication's #1 position on area newsstands. She started and grew a marketing channel called 5280 Scene that encompassed an Instagram element with a large following, a robust events calendar, an email database, and an events line that improved brand awareness and provided additional revenue opportunities. Carrie has worked closely with clients like Aetna, Infiniti of Denver, Citywide Banks, Visit Denver, Mile High United Way, Cherry Creek North Business Improvement District, Denver Food & Wine to name a few.

Prior to working at 5280 magazine, Carrie was the Promotions Director at Entercom, Denver, where she managed brand awareness, social media channels, client activations, and dozens of events every year. Carrie worked across multiple stations, including Alice 105.9 and 99.5 The Mountain. In her role, Carrie worked with top radio talent and nationally-known musicians. She also spearheaded new events and managed campaigns for brands like AT&T, KeyBank, Isle Casino Hotel Blackhawk, Anheuser-Busch and Colorado Rapids.

Carrie spent nearly two years in Boston working for Regan Communications, developing and managing campaigns for clients like New Balance, The Boston Celtics and Dunkin' Donuts. She began her career as the Public Relations Coordinator for Visit Rochester in upstate New York where she secured public relations placements for the City of Rochester and appeared on-camera to represent the best spots in the city for visitors.

In 2017, Carrie was honored with the 'Director-Level-Doer' award from Folio magazine. She received her bachelor's degree from Roy H. Park School of Communications at Ithaca College with a major in Television and Radio and a concentration in Public Relations. She also has a master's degree from The University of Denver in Organizational Communications and Digital Marketing. In her spare time, Carrie works with Ronald McDonald House Charities. She is an avid skier and camper and can be found in the mountains of Colorado most weekends with her husband, Bryan, her two kids, London and Weston and Dog Roxy.
